A space to grow.
A space to grow.
Hidden in the heart of Buckingham, there have been allotments on the site since 1887, on what was then called 'the Old Brick Yard'
There are 75 full plots, but as many of these are divided up there are twice as many plot-holders. We have two communal orchards and nature areas.
New to the hobby or an old hand; everyone keen to garden is welcome. We are a friendly community who enjoy sharing our experiences growing fruit, veg and flowers. There is a real pleasure in being outside, connecting with nature and harvesting our produce.
If you want to know more or put your name down for a plot, contact us using the green button above or email bourtonallotchair@gmail.com
Yes, there are cattle troughs at intervals along the access routes where you can fill watering cans. There is no facility to use hosepipes.
There is some variation in sizing at the plots. A typical quarter plot would be 5x5m.
There is parking for about eight cars on the site, so at peak times it can get busy.
It is ok to have a shed or greenhouse, up to a maximum size of 2x2.5 m (6x8 foot).
You are not allowed to keep animals (e.g. chickens or rabbits) on the site. You may bring your dog with you providing it is kept with you under control.
When you take on a plot you will be asked for a deposit. This will be returned to you if your plot is in good order when you leave. The deposit amount depends on your plot size, starting at £30 for a quarter plot (£40 for a half plot).
The rent is paid annually at the start of March. For a quarter plot it is £16, for a half plot £29.
